EVANSVILLE — An Evansville woman, a former business manager for Transcendent Health Care of Owensville, Ind., in Gibson County, was arrested Thursday on theft and forgery charges.
Rebecca Rueger, 51, was charged after an investigation by Indiana State Police indicated she had embezzled nearly $60,000 while she was working at the health care firm.
Rueger is charged with one count of forgery, a class C felony, and one count of theft, a class D felony. She was arrested at 1 p.m. Thursday at her home on Evansville’s East Delaware Street.
According to officials, the criminal investigation was began in June after administrators at the health care facility noticed funds were missing from their accounts. State Police Detective Tobias Odom reported his investigation revealed Rueger had embezzled the money for personal use between October 2008 and March 2012.
Rueger was taken to the Gibson County Jail, but officials there said she was released after posting a $2,500 cash bond.
