NEW YORK — Authorities say a ferry crash in New York City left 11 people with serious injuries, including one who suffered a severe head wound falling down a stairwell.
There were about 330 passengers and crew members on the Seastreak Wall Street when it hit a pier after arriving from New Jersey on Wednesday morning.
About 70 people were checked out at hospitals after the crash. Most of the injuries were minor.
The cause of the accident was under investigation.
The ferry recently underwent a major overhaul that gave it new engines and a new propulsion system.
Officials say it was too soon to tell whether the work played any role in the crash.
