James Truman “Jim” Stanley
James Truman “Jim” Stanley, 67, Henderson, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Lucy Smith King Care Center.
Mr. Stanley was a graduate of South Hopkins High School. He was employed at Whirlpool, Ford Motors and eventually retired from Retiki Mines. Jim was a very active member of Watson Lane Baptist Church for more than 20 years. He enjoyed teaching adult Sunday school. Jim loved to travel, especially to Europe, but also enjoyed trips to Disney World and the Great Smoky Mountains. He enjoyed baseball, especially his beloved Cleveland Indians. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and cherished grandson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Lucille Stanley of Mortons Gap; one daughter, Tracy Lynn Stanley; one son, Bryan Lenn Stanley; and two brothers, Billy Stanley and Ronny Stanley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Stanley of Henderson; two daughters, Kellie Stanley Cotton and her husband, Mark, of Hanson and Jacquelyn Faith Newman and her husband, Scott, of Owensboro; one son, James Shea Stanley of Henderson; four sisters, Genevieve Heltsley, Shirley Glaysbrook, Loretta Qualls and Shannon Oakley; three brothers, Louis Stanley, Larry Stanley and Kenny Stanley; one grandson, Bryan Christopher Newman; many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jim’s Life Celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. today and again on Friday starting at 9 a.m. at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Brad Harrison and the Rev. Keith Griffin will officiate. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Watson Lane Baptist Church.

Mary Ann Alvey
Mary Ann Alvey, 73, Reed, passed away at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Methodist Hospital.
Mrs. Alvey was a member of Reed Community Church, where she loved to sing. Mary Ann was a great homemaker. She enjoyed blackberry picking season and NASCAR.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Nannie Marie Midkiff; two sons, Darrell Wayne and Robert O. Alvey Jr.; one daughter, Donna Kay McPhee; one sister, Laverne Midkiff; and one brother, Jackie Dale Midkiff.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, the Rev. Robert O. Alvey Sr. of Reed; one son, Randell Alvey and his wife, Darla, of Henderson; two sisters, Wanda Jeanne Abell of Aurora, Ill., and Geraldine Crowell of Owensboro; one brother, Rudy Lee Midkiff of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Christina Mount, Roger Alvey, Richard Leistner and Michael Simmons; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Gary L. Creech
Gary L. Creech, 70, Henderson, previously of West Virginia, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Lucy Smith King Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Wheatley of West Virginia; and his father, Ralph Creech of West Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Creech; stepchildren; two sisters, Constance Mullins of Louisville and Anna Ferrell of Indianapolis; one brother, Charles Wheatley of Nashville, Tenn.; stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; and nephews.
Services will be at a later date. Pastor Ernie Lingerfelt will officiate.
He donated his body to science at the University of Louisville.
John Timothy “Butch” Mullen
OWENSBORO — John Timothy “Butch” Mullen, 51, Owensboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.
He was a truck driver and of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bernard Mullen.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Stacy Mullen; two daughters, Tabitha Robertson and Maggie Dockery, both of Owensboro; one son, Sgt. Jeremy Wedding of Chesapeake, Va.; his mother, Mary Francis Mullen; five sisters, Nola Courtney, Marilyn Kerwin, Bernadette Mullen Wheeler, Monica Mullen and Maria Phillips; three brothers, Hugh Mullen, David Mullen and Kevin Mullen; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today.

Jossie M. Killman
METROPOLIS, Ill. — Jossie M. Killman, 91, Metropolis, formerly of Sturgis, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at Metropolis Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waldo Killman; her parents, Robert Earl and Mamie Lee Damron; one daughter, Lela Lollar; and one son, Lawrence Harris.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeannie Walls of Metropolis; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Grangertown Cemetery in Grangertown, Ky.
